While I'm not necessarily in the market for a dog right now (I have 1 mutt still, that is 15 years old...), I have been fascinated in this "Designer Dog" phenomenon. When my parents got me my first dog, the only thing they know about it before they picked him up was he was "Free", and my other dog was a stray, so I have no experience with purchasing a dog.Turns out I didn't even know what a designer dog was, necessarily. I thought they were like the dogs that people keep in purses, but they are actually specific mixed breeds of dogs, like a Puggle, a Borkie, or a Shihpoo. And they are expensive! most of them hovering around $1000, some as much as $2,500! It gives you advice on how to purchase a dog from the best breeders (instead of low quality, and borderline abusive puppy mills), and ways you can help the Humane Society make the conditions better for these dogs. Oh, it also explains the temperaments and personalities of the more well known designer breeds, so you can pick the one that is right for you and your family.
It was a very interesting read. I wasn't expecting to get a lesson on the deplorable conditions of SOME (not all) puppy mills, but I'm glad I did. I feel more well informed, and when I decide to get another dog, I will feel more confident having this information.

I like the writers out look on the designer breeds. You can tell this was a book writing on facts and reschearch. There were a fews mixed breeds left out but still a good book.
I have to admit that that this book really impressed me. It's enormous and well detailed. Anyone who loves dogs has got to get this book.
It has everything you want to know and didn't know about the designer dog "industry." From the United States to Hawaii and all the way to Southeast Asia and other nations, the designer dog industry is booming.
